adobe - Creativity explained

On Type

We at oddfellows created a series of design manifestos to introduce a new educational series from Adobe.

The first - On Type, was narrated by type authority Erik Spiekermann. He has such a big personality, it was fun trying to compliment his quirkiness in animation.

I animated several sections of the piece from start to finish under our directors watchful eye, shown below.

On LAYOUT

The second video in the series is narrated by creative director Nathalie Kirsheh.

A big key in this one was keeping the fidelity of the layouts with every transition. I really had to go back in time to my layout classes in college to make sure I wasn’t making some design faux pas.

On Color

My favorite section to animate in this piece was showing the design process from black and white to color (1:32). In reality designing is a quite a bit messier (or at least mine is!), so it was very satisfying to show this idealized version.
